I created The Piano Keys YouTube channel to share my knowledge of music with people around the world.

After watching hundreds of YouTube videos that

  • promised to teach a piece of music, but showed only a small portion of it
  • made wild claims about going from beginner to pro in a few days
  • showed computer generated piano playing without any information about the actual technique of using human hands to play

I decided to create videos with a different approach.

From the start, I’ve been committed to providing real value in every single video. No dishonest and unrealistic promises and no clickbait video titles just to get views. I provide solid, high-level information in a simple way that most anyone can understand.

And through the years, I’ve received many messages and comments from people who have been able to achieve their goals through my videos. This makes me feel very happy.

I also got lots of questions about the rules of music and how to practice piano. While my YouTube videos were helping people learn certain pieces, or giving them hints and tips on practice techniques, this wasn’t really enough for those who really wanted to play piano to the best of their ability.  I saw a that I needed to offer a system for learning how to read music, how to practice, how to use the piano pedals, and how to improve technique.

Because these things can’t really be picked up in a useful way by watching random videos in random orders. I wanted to make sure that my viewers were getting the best results from the time they invested in their piano practice. 

So, I took everything I’ve learned since my elite music training from childhood, through college, and into graduate school, my thousands of hours spent practicing, performing, and teaching, and distilled it down into only the most important information, exercises, tips and practice techniques.
